Filipina Live-in/Caregivers across Canada voiced their concerns regarding work, family, and personal life in the project, COVID-19: Exploring the Experiences of Filipina Care Workers Using Photovoice and Participatory Action Research, that have political and advocacy implications.

Policies that protect Filipina Live- in/Caregivers’ rights as migrant workers clearly benefit the workers themselves
and their families, as well as the Canadian society at large given that they are considered “essential workers”.

Filipina Personal Support Workers during COVID-19

Filipina PSWs across Canada voiced their concerns regarding work, family, and personal life in the project, COVID-19: Exploring the Experiences of Filipina Care Workers Using Photovoice and Participatory Action Research, that have significant policy implications.

While precarity of care work for PSWs have taken up the policy spotlight in the past year, care workers have long sought for interventions to ensure safety in the workplace and dignity in their pay. Policies that protect care workers’ rights not only protect the clients they work with, but also respects the significant life-saving work of PSWs and RPNs.
